![]() So when Paul Daniels wants to add a recorder to his VideoBoard mod, he should just be able to call on Moodle's video capture api. Basically I think Moodle needs to have a central media capture API that is called on from other areas of Moodle. However there is still a lot we can do to shore moodle up. With Java applets insecure and basically dead, Flash only covering desktops, and HTML5 recording not up to speed, the landscape is changing and its a bad time to pick winners. The current thinking is that since no recorder really covers all the bases, it is best to rely on plugins and let people choose the one that at least covers their bases. For content creation and for language classes these are pretty much necessary. Moodle doesn't have its own audio/video capture capability. So to summarise, an app that requires iOS 9.4 or higher cannot be used on the 5th gen Touch. There is another thread going on that started to get into this, but I thought it deserves its own space. My understanding is that it cannot run iOS 13. The highest version of iOS that the 6th gen Touch can run is (at the time of writing) iOS 12.4.4. Note that the 6th gen Touch does not have the pop-out button. The back of the 6th gen Touch looks like the one below: ![]() The highest version of iOS that the 5th gen Touch can run is iOS 9.3.5. (I believe the 16GB iPod Touch in 5th gen does not have this button, but the 16Gb was not available in Product Red.) If the back has a pop-out button (known as the Lanyard Loop) in the lower left corner, it's a 5th gen model: However, as you have the Product Red version, to correctly identify between a 5th and 6th gen Touch, look on the back case. I believe the Product Red version was also available in the 5th gen models. ![]() IPod touch (6th generation) is available in five colors, as well as a (PRODUCT)RED version. I think mine is 6th Generation, because I have the Red iPod Touch and I notice in parenthesis at the bottom: ![]()
